Introduction to GraceWorks

GraceWorks, established by Grace Cathedral in partnership with secular resources, wishes to provide job search and career transition support for unemployed and underemployed professionals of the San Francisco Bay Area. An attempt is made to provide spiritual, technical, and operational resources.

The mission of GraceWorks is three-fold:

  1. To provide a spiritual framework for career transitions.
  2. To develop a caring, supportive, and nurturing community.
  3. To host a safe place for open and non-judgmental discussion and sharing of feelings and resources.

"Job Search Momentum in Nov. and Dec."

Title:

"Job Search Momentum in Nov. and Dec." by Dan Rink

Date:

Monday November 17, 2008

Time:

8:30 am - 11:00 am

Location:

Wilsey Room (street level on Tayor Street side )

Notes:

Many job seekers lose energy and focus during the holiday season.
This "down period" for many people extends from mid-November
through Thanksgiving and into the New Year. This is understandable, but unfortunate because historically December and January are two of the best hiring months. Even in this troubled economic time, there is a lot of hiring, some of it is just churn, but much of it is filling new positions.

Staying energetic and positive is essential during all of your social interactions and your job search activities. The "Networking Dialog," Success Teams, and the "Resume Addendum" are powerful tools to help maintain your morale and momentum from mid-November to mid-January. These tools help you focus your energy and refine your stories. With your stories clear and your mood up, you can enjoy the holiday period and keep your job search on track.

In this presentation, we'll describe each of these tools and point out powerful and creative ways to use these tools.

Dan Rink has facilitated hundreds of workshops on career management, knowledge strategies, and communication skills. He has also coached a wide range of managers and professionals through successful career transitions.
